Located in the heart of Killarney Town at the gateway to the Ring of Kerry, this beautifully appointed Killarney hotel neighbours Killarney National Park and all of its amazing beauty and wealth of amenities are at your disposal. The 198 spacious guestrooms and suites feature large windows overlooking the town or the park and comde with every modern convenience in a clasical setting.
Spectacularly located on the waterfront in the historic town of Kinsale, the Trident Hotel is the Trident Hotel is one of the most spectacularly located hotels in West Cork with breathtaking views. The newly refurbished bedrooms include an executive wing comprising 30 rooms and a penthouse floor of nine luxury suites, all with breathtaking views of the harbour and the enchanting town of Kinsale.
Tucked away in a quiet corner of ‘The Velvet Strand’, one of Ireland’s most stunning stretches of uninterrupted coastline - the historic Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links, once the family home of the Jameson Whiskey Dynasty, combines modern elegance with the grandeur of a 19th-century residence. Overlooking the Irish Sea, all rooms have views of either, the ocean, gardens or the Bernard Langer designed championship golf course and also include internet access, and tea/coffee-making facilities.
“I may have designed the first nine, but surely God designed the back nine" - famously commented Tralee Golf Course designer and legend Arnold Palmer. Rightly so because playing directly along the coast, Tralee is spectacular beyond belief and is probably second only to Old Head in the scenery department. In terms of views, Tralee has it all: a rocky harbor, a castle ruin, beaches, and last but not least, a stunning golf course that appears one with nature.
Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Ballybunion needs no introduction for the avid golfer. Tom Watson is probably credited for first bringing Ballybunion to international attention when in 1982, after winning the Open Championship at Royal Troon he commented that “nobody can call himself a golfer unless he has played at Ballybunion; you would think the game originated there”.
Although built on similar, stirring terrain to The Old Course in the 1980s, in many ways ‘The Cashen’ is more irascible, more spectacular, more flirtatious, more brutal and more unforgiving and more difficult to tame than her older, more famous sibling.
'Dooks' comes from the Irish word 'Douaghs' which translated means dunes and the Dooks Golf Course is located on one of the three stretches of sand dunes at the head of Dingle bay. In the immediate foreground are the sand dune peninsulas of Rossbeigh and Inch and just a few miles away the Cromane fishing village and McGillycuddy's Reeks provide an eye catching distraction. To the southwest are the lovely valleys of Glenbeigh, while Slieve Mish and Dingle Mountains stand across the bay to the north.
Adjacent to the Ring of Kerry, Waterville Links is consistently rated one of the top five courses in Ireland and one of the top twenty links courses in the world. No wonder that several PGA Tour pros, including Tiger Woods, have visited Waterville to polish their skills prior to the British Open. The combination of sand dunes, native grasses, firm fairways, sod faced bunkers and subtle putting surfaces at Waterville results in a perfect links course.
Sitting on a 220-acre piece of land that is like a cut diamond, jutting out over two miles into the Atlantic Ocean, the Old Head Golf Links of Kinsale has been described as the most dramatic links course in the world - offering an experience that is completely in a class of its own. The surroundings are characterized by rugged nature and high above the roaring Atlantic that gives a feeling to be at 'the edge of the world'.
Portmarnock Golf Club is a links golf club in the Republic of Ireland, located 15 minutes from Dublin Airport. The course opened on St. Stephen’s day 1894 with nine holes. It was extended to eighteen holes in 1896 with a new clubhouse and a further nine holes were added in 1971.
Although its shortage of international recognition may suggest otherwise, be assured that The Island Golf Club is one of the finest and most difficult links courses in Ireland. Nestling amongst enormous sand dunes, the course is surrounded by the Irish Sea, Donabate Beach and Broadmeadow Estuary.
