Day By DayArrive at WELLINGTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Airport where you will be met and assisted to the INTERCONTINENTAL WELLINGTON, North Island. Please make your way to the Budget Rental Car counter located within the arrivals hall to collect your Budget rental vehicle. Drive South to Taupo area and check into your allocated hotel in Taupo.
This upscale hotel in a modern glass building is a 3-minute walk from shopping along Lambton Quay, and 5 minutes by foot from Queen’s Wharf on the Wellington Harbour waterfront. Plush quarters offer city views, armchairs, flat-screens and free Wi-Fi. Upgraded rooms include extra beds and/or sofas; some have whirlpool baths. Some of the biggest names in the sport have graced these fairways, from Gary Player and five-time Open Championship winner Peter Thompson through to Corey Pavin, Michael Campbell and in 2002 the world’s number 1 golfer, Tiger Woods.
Royal Wellington has recently undergone a significant redevelopment resulting in a challenging new championship course. Set in beautiful parklands, next to a river with dominant native trees and bush, the gentle contoured fairways are laced together by streams and lakes. The course contains many distinctive holes, including the par 5 4th, which sees the fairway split on either side of a stream.
