The West or Old course as many call it is a tighter layout with tree lined fairways and many elevated greens making scoring perhaps tougher than on the east course.
The East course and later course is more links style with water coming into play on a few holes. The back nine particularly is well designed with the last five holes separating a good to a great score if golfers can stay clear of the strategic water hazards and tough bunkering.
Playing 10 18 west and 10 18 East is the best configuration to get a good look at two excellent designs if you have only the one round here.
